Go into Museu Guilleries and get to know the wide variety of the fauna and flora in the area through the different ecosystems. It is a museum of the zone and the natural heritage in which you will be able to know about the roders, one of the oldest trade in our town.

The town hall

The town hall

It is one of the most patrimonial and emblematic building in town. It was built in 1786 as the town hospital. Subsequently, the half-buried plant was a school and the ground floor was the teachers’ home.

Former spa of Font Picant

Former spa of Font Picant

The former spa of Font Picant is situated about 4km from the centre of the town, on the Osor road. It was one of the most famous spas in Spain at the beginning of the 20th century, as it was known for its mineral-medicinal waters. Over the time, it became a summer resort and a meeting point for the Catalan bourgeoisie.

Font Vella spa

This majestic building was built in 1908. It was named as Villa Josefina since it was a nun house for a long time. Today, the building is a hotel-spa.

Can Rovira

Can Rovira

This building was constructed during the 15th century by the Gurb family. It is an old stately house belonging to the richest family in the town. In 1995, the building became municipal property. It was later opened as a tourist office and as an exhibition hall.

Anton Busquets i Punset’s birthplace

Anton Busquets i Punset was a Catalan writer and poet. He was born in a house on Carrer Vic, in Sant Hilari. From an early age he differed from the boys of his generation because he had different concerns.

Despatx de l’aigua

This nineteenth-century building was designed by Josep Maria Pericas and built in 1923. In the past, it became an essential meeting point for holiday makers, since they went there to have social life while drinking water from the Font Picant (a spring).

The church

The church

The church is located in the middle of the town and it is dedicated to Sant Hilari de Poitiers, the son of a Roman aristocratic family brought up in paganism. The building is made up of a wide variety of styles, mainly Romanesque and Gothic. This diversity is due to the continuous reforms and extensions which have been made during the 12th, 15th, 16th, 19th and 20th centuries.

La Pedra Llarga

La Pedra Llarga is a megalithic menhir-shaped monument. Although its chronology is uncertain, it is believed to date from the transition period between the Neolithic and the Bronze Age, around 2500 – 1800 BC. ral group which entered through the north of the peninsula in 2000 B.C.

Jaumet’s statue

Jaumet’s statue

Jaume Traveries i Riera, known as Jaumet del Flabiol, was the first water distributor of Font Vella. He was dumb and short, and really cherished by the townspeople. He delivered the water to the summer residents with some earthenware jug with spout and handle. He is still a well-remembered figure thanks to some typical desserts known as “Jaumets”.

La Cooperativa

La Cooperativa

This building was constructed in 1920 as the headquarters of roders, a trade consisting of woodwork in which wooden containers or barrels were made through chestnut wood. Nowadays, it is occupied by Museu Guilleries, where, among others, there is an exhibition dedicated to this old trade.

Ermita del Nen Jesús de Praga

The hermitage of Nen Jesús de Praga (Infant Jesus of Prague) is located on a small hill known as “La Roca d’en Pla”, from where you can see beautiful views. It belongs to the parish of Sant Mateu de Joanet, Arbúcies, today under pastoral and administrative care of the parish of Sant Hilari Sacalm.

General Moragues’ monument

This square is dedicated to Josep Moragues i Mas, a historical figure born in 1669 in Mas Moragues, in Sant Hilari Sacalm. He was a military man who fought for the Austrian side in the War of the Spanish Succession. In the square, there is a monument dedicated to him by Domènec Fita.

Can Rovira mural

Can Rovira mural

This mural represents the popular legend called Les estovalles de Can Rovira (Can Rovira tablecloth), which explains how the Rovira family managed to live in abundance over several generations. It also reflects some of the most characteristic features of the town. It was painted by two local artists, Josep Nogué and Ester Polo, alongside with Bet, an artist from Arbúcies.

Mirador del Pla del Campaner

The viewpoint called Mirador del Pla del Campaner is situated near the centre of the village. This point allows to see the bell tower of the church and the houses around it.

This viewpoint is known for its magnificent views of the natural park El Montseny. It is a place where you can breathe the nature and tranquillity in its essence. It is very visited by the tourists as well as the townspeople.

Mirador de les Guilleries

This viewpoint is located in the residential area called Cal Sastre and its location allows the visitors to have a panoramic view of our town with the massif El Montseny and Les Guilleries in the background. The walk to the top of the viewpoint is about 250 metres.
